1. Who We Are
Teaching Kids 2 Care is a social-emotional learning (SEL) platform for elementary-age children (grades K-5). Our website is located at https://teachingkids2care.com.
If you have questions about this privacy policy or our data practices, you can contact us at:
Teaching Kids 2 Care
Email: privacy@teachingkids2care.com
2. Information We Collect
From Parents/Guardians and Teachers (Account Holders)
When you create an account, we collect:
- Registration information: Name, email address, and password
- Payment information: For paid subscriptions, payment is processed through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.
- Account preferences: Membership level, account type (family or classroom)
From Children (Through Parent/Teacher Accounts)
We collect the following information about children, which is entered by the parent or teacher — never directly by the child:
- First name (used to personalize the learning experience)
- Grade level (used to show age-appropriate lessons)
- Learning progress: Lesson completion records, quiz scores, stars earned, and activity completion
Automatically Collected Information
Like most websites, our server automatically collects:
- IP address (used for security and to prevent abuse)
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and time spent on pages
We do not use this information to identify individual children or to build behavioral profiles.
3. How We Use Information
| Information | How We Use It |
|---|---|
| Parent/teacher name and email | Account management, communication, password recovery |
| Payment information | Processing subscription payments (via Stripe) |
| Child's first name | Personalizing the learning experience ("Great job, Emma!") |
| Child's grade level | Showing age-appropriate lessons |
| Learning progress | Saving completed lessons, displaying dashboard progress, enabling teachers to track student progress |
4. How We Protect Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
We take the following steps to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act:
- Parental consent: All child profiles are created by parents or teachers, not by children. By creating a child profile, the parent or teacher provides consent for us to collect and use the child's first name, grade level, and learning progress data.
- Minimal data collection: We only collect what is necessary to provide the educational service. We do not collect more information than is reasonably necessary.
- No behavioral advertising: We do not serve advertisements to children. We do not use children's data for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, or marketing purposes.
- No third-party data sharing for commercial purposes: We do not sell, rent, or share children's personal information with third parties for their commercial purposes.
- Parental access and control: Parents can review, update, or delete their child's information at any time through the "My Kids" page in their account.
- Data security: We use industry-standard security measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage.
5. Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review your child's personal information by visiting the "My Kids" page in your account
- Update your child's name or grade level at any time
- Delete your child's profile and all associated progress data by removing the profile from "My Kids"
- Refuse further collection by deleting your child's profile or closing your account
- Request information about what data we have collected about your child by emailing us
To exercise any of these rights, log into your account and visit the "My Kids" page, or contact us at privacy@teachingkids2care.com.
6. Classroom Accounts and Student Data
When teachers use Teaching Kids 2 Care in a classroom setting:
- The teacher acts as the authorized representative and creates student profiles on behalf of parents
- Student data (first name, grade, learning progress) is visible to the teacher who created the classroom
- Teachers can assign lessons and view student progress through the Teacher Dashboard
- If a teacher's account is closed, all associated student profiles and progress data are deleted
7. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:
- Stripe (payment processing) — only processes adult account holder payment information, never children's data
- Hosting provider (Hostinger) — hosts our website and database with industry-standard security
- Law enforcement — only if required by law, subpoena, or court order
We do not share children's data with any advertising networks, data brokers, analytics platforms, or social media companies.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use the following cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required to keep you logged in and maintain your session. These are necessary for the site to function.
- WordPress authentication cookies: Standard WordPress cookies that manage your login session.
We do not use:
- Third-party advertising cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Behavioral analytics cookies that track children
9. Data Retention and Deletion
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. When you close your account, all personal information is deleted within 30 days.
- Child profiles: Deleted immediately when a parent removes a child profile, or when the parent account is closed.
- Learning progress: Deleted along with the child profile.
- Payment records: Retained as required by law for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years). Payment records are managed by Stripe.
10. Data Security
We implement the following security measures:
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords are stored using one-way hashing (never in plain text)
- Database access is restricted to authorized personnel
- Regular security updates are applied to our hosting and software
While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect the personal information entrusted to us.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes — especially changes that affect how we handle children's data — we will notify account holders by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
